Encomas is very proud of sponsoring the first ever solo exhibition of local artist Mr. Lee Choon Kooi, a self taught artist of over 30 years from Kedah. His art is a blend of eastern and western techniques, capturing the tradition and culture of the different races of Malaysia. His first ever solo exhibition titled MULTICULTURAL was held at the hall of Kedah / Perlis Teochew Association in Alor Setar on the 1 Oct 2010 till 5 Oct 2010. It was organized by Kedah / Perlis Teochew Association.
The five days events attract nearly two thousands locals and outstation people. 70% of the paintings in the exhibition had been sold. It is a huge success unexpected by the artist and Encomas as well. Beside monetary contribution, Encomas staffs had contribute their time in helping him design the poster, invitation card, paintings arrangement and to help ‘market’ Mr. Lee as the local artist who draw inspiration from our surrounding. We especially like his drawing on the Taipusan event for the Indian community, the Nine Emperor Vegetarian event for the Chinese community and the playing of traditional musical instruction, the nobat for the Malay community. All these events are part of our local community and Mr. Lee capture it well in his brush and paper.
Personally Encomas feel what our talented local artist lack is the marketing skill and a huge dose of confidents. Encomas is here to provide both. Encomas wish to promote local artist like Mr. Lee Choon Kooi to the national and international level.
Note: After the exhibition, Mr. Lee was invited to hold exhibition in Penang, Kuala Lumpur and China. Well done Mr. Lee.
